It all started with one barrel. Alex Schoeppner, owner of Schoeppner Designs, acquired his first barrel from Templeton Rye in 2010. With a rich family history in woodworking and carpentry, along with a passion for art, his dream was to make furniture. Re-purposing these once used barrels was just the way to do it. Early in life, Alex learned the trade of carpentry from his father Dave, who has dedicated his life to woodworking and carpentry. Alex designed and crafted his first pieces in Dave's woodshop. The first piece was our “TR” bar stool, and that is when Schoeppner Designs was born. Today Schoeppner Designs crafts many types of furniture, artwork, and decor by repurposing oak barrels and other metal and hardwood materials.
In 2013 Schoeppner Designs moved to the historic “White Elephant” on Main Street Templeton. This is there current production and showroom facility. It was originally built in 1920 by Alex's great great uncle Ted Schoeppner. The "White Elephant" was then home to the first car dealership in Templeton – The Schoeppner Motor Company. Schoeppner Designs is proud to have the opportunity to join Main Street Templeton and the great history and neighbors that come along with it.
Schoeppner Designs prides themselves in the quality and craftsmanship of their work. With each piece hand crafted they truly become one of a kind. Schoeppner Designs is always coming up with new ways to push the envelope, and new creations are born all the time. Come visit our showroom at 123 Main Street in Templeton, Iowa and experience a one of a kind story behind a small town feel that inspires our furniture.
